The study focuses on the risk of food contamination in the Mangystau region, one of the regions of Kazakhstan most affected by mining and the toxic legacy of the Soviet era. Special attention is paid to the contamination of camel milk, an important part of the local diet. The research follows on from previous studies by Arnika, EcoMuseum, and CINEST and is part of the project "Enforcing Citizens' Rights and Participation in Environmental Decision-Making", supported by the European Union and the Transformation Cooperation Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
